Lightroom Mobile is one of the best and most convenient post-processing tools you can use on your pictures. Convenience is the best feature because you can edit photos on your iPad while relaxing at home or out on the go. It is a lot easier to start up the app on the iPad or smartphone than from you PC or Mac. It contains a lot of the features that's in the full version of Lightroom.
There are a couple of ways you can load your photos into Lightroom Mobile. The easiest way is to turn on auto upload from your smartphone and let Lightroom handle the rest. That only work with pictures taken from your phone or tablet. To get pictures uploaded from your DSLR/Mirrorless/PointnShoot you can sync from Wifi/Bluetooth if your camera supports it. Then you would need to manually upload the pictures to Lightroom Mobile from your tablet or phone. The final way and the way I prefer would be to upload the pictures from my SD card on my computer and let Lightroom automatically sync my photos to the mobile version. This way I have the full version saved on my computer and the synced smart preview on my tablet.
Smart previews are a great way to have all your photos synced with you at all times, without having to have the memory to support it. It is basically a small preview of your photo that just saves the instructions of the edits you have done and syncs it with the original file. Also saves time with having to load a small preview than have the full resolution version.
You still have all the great features of Lightroom without sacrificing too much from the full desktop version. All the basic sliders and basic edits are in the mobile version. You have the ability to crop, correct specific colors, and play with the tone curve. The dehaze feature is also present. You also can choose from a lengthy list of presets to help get into the creative flow if needed. Custom presets are one of the downfalls to the mobile version as they are not enabled.
Finally, the mobile version allows you to export your photos to share on your social medias or through email. It is a basic export system by letting you just export one photo at a time It will not allow you to add your custom watermark which happens to be another downfall. I hope future updates will allow you to personalize your photos with a watermark.
To sum up, Lightroom Mobile is a great choice to edit your photos by adding convenience to your workflow. I love editing my family photos while sitting on the back porch while enjoying the outdoors. It also allows for basic edits that are synced to the desktop version if the photo needed more attention. This is a great app that is a must-have for all skill level photographers.
